For most of us this is nothing short of demonic activity. Others, still very pro-life, do not see the demonic, just the “unthinkable” murder of the preborn. Either way, it is a senseless holocaust – genocide, mass murder.
As pro-lifers, regardless of our religious persuasion, we have banded together to bring an end to this genocide, not just within the borders of our country, but worldwide. How, you might well ask, can this “putting an end to” be accomplished? More and better laws? Education? Science? Religion? I submit that all of the above may be temporarily helpful but are not a definitive answer.
What then? Well, I like to think of all pro-lifers as an army. If you are a Jesus (God) follower, you can easily relate to the concept of “God’s Army”. (Think of the old song “Onward Christian Soldiers”.) Every fighting force (army) sets out to achieve an objective. This involves training, leading, following, persistence, dedication, sacrifice, discomfort, and sometimes great injury and even the prospect of death. That said, every army, as victory is achieved, becomes a liberating force. Liberation involves freeing those who have been held captive by the enemy. It takes great compassion, providing for great need, gently leading people to safety and freedom. It involves listening, hearing, responding by “stepping up” to do the right thing. (Reference “Making the Case for Life on Hostile Turf” https://miracleoflife.us/library/video-resources-library/). For me, the right thing also includes introducing captives to the greatest Liberator of all time, Jesus Christ, so they are free and able to establish a personal relationship with God. That genuine relationship involves repentance, restoration, and peace. It involves a new life, new outlook, new determination to do the right thing with that right thing becoming more clearly defined on a daily basis. It is genuine freedom for the captives.
It has become apparent that so many involved in the crime of abortion simply don’t know that a relationship with God is even possible. They are self-oriented, self-directed, without hope for the future, and desperate to escape the prison of consequences of their own bad choices.
While it is always important to carry the fight to the enemy, it is equally important to carry freedom to the captives. It’s time to liberate! Let’s just step up and do the right thing! We must walk with God’s great objectives and commands on our minds and in our spirits. We must seek and have the mind of Christ. We must live as Christ followers, in deed more than in word or outward appearance. We may well be the only light post on someone’s journey.
