It strikes me that the single most significant contribution anyone can make to life is contained in their attitude. (And you thought I was going to say it is 'knowing Jesus Christ'.) The greatest single contribution any of us can make in life is that of having and projecting a positive and caring attitude.
Why, you may ask, do I not say the single most significant contribution anyone can make in life is 'knowing Jesus Christ'? Because many claim to know him and manifest stinking attitudes. Therefore, their contributions to life are of a negative nature and do little, if anything, to enhance life for themselves or anyone else. Scribes and Pharisees come to mind.
Our lives are the canvas upon which the Divine paints his masterpieces. Attitudes often wrongly mix the paints, dirty the canvas, or worse, insist on holding the brush. We would do well to live quietly and with a heart that knows humility. We would do well to simply trust the Artist – and with great expectancy. (The greater the trust the greater the joy of anticipation!)
Humility simply means that we do not make comparisons. Which also means we do not judge or esteem ourselves better than another. Most of humanity seems not to do this very well. However, we do have ample opportunity to practice and really ought to take advantage of the same!
Compassion, mercy and grace will carry the day and the situation. Right attitudes will change the world, one soul at a time. The Universe responds, not to mathematical genius, nor brilliance of any kind in any sphere of life… the Universe responds to presence, awareness, compassion, mercy and grace. The Universe responds to great attitudes and great humility.
Now, lest you get upset because I've not talked real specifically about “God” nor used scriptural references or spiritual clichés , bear in mind that God is in all and through all, omnipresent and omniscient as well as a great fixer of lousy attitudes. You just have to want the fix. And, yes, God IS that fix.
