Satan has infiltrated our academic institutions by attacking the very thing that should compel men to revere God...namely, creation.  The Apostle Paul put it this way:

 ²⁰ For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made], so that they [who fail to believe and trust in Him] are without excuse and without defense. ²¹ For even though ^[a]they knew God [as the Creator], they did not ^[b]honor Him as God or give thanks [for His wondrous creation]. On the contrary, they became worthless in their thinking [godless, with pointless reasonings, and silly speculations], and their foolish heart was darkened. ²² Claiming to be wise, they became fools,  (Romans 1:20-22 amp)

      The shame of this situation is that it has even infiltrated the church.  Pastors are reluctant to preach the words of Genesis 1-2 because God’s methods and means of creation seem to fly in the face of “sophisticated experts.” Pastors want to seem “creditable.”  How pastors handle Genesis 1-2 will tell you all you need to know about their commitment to the verbal inspiration of scripture.  To try integrating Genesis 1-2 into modern day speculations about creation turns people from knowing the creative power, glory and wisdom of God.  

     As a science major in a major university, I know how ruinous evolutionary speculations are to the clear teaching of Genesis 1-2.  This results in a ruinous understanding of man and ultimately, a rejection of Jesus Christ as Savior.  The odd thing is, it is scientifically easy to disassemble evolutionary speculations, but Satan has succeeded in turning many away from the truth of creation and following a lie...a lie that will ultimately lead men and women to an eternity in hell.  My prayer for you and me this morning is this:  Lord, give our pastors boldness in preaching the truth...Truth Matters.  Clear our vision of who You are so that we can see Your glory and understand our need of Your grace and mercy.  Amen.

     Michael Horton ( Professor of Theology and Apologetics at Westminster Seminary California since 1998) put it well:

“Secularism cannot be blamed on the secularists, many of whom were raised in the church. We are the problem. If most churchgoers cannot tell us anything specific about the God they consider meaningful or explain basic doctrines of creation in God’s image, original sin, the atonement, justification, sanctification, the means of grace, or the hope of glory, then the blame can hardly be placed at the feet of secular humanists.”
